Broiler Farm Manager

As the Friesen Group of Companies continues to grow and serve the local agricultural community, we are seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to assist our Director of Operations. This position will be full-time hours of 45 hours per week.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, communicating and coordinating daily farm activities in an efficient, effective and cost-effective manner.
  • Responsible for monitoring farm personnel to ensure all work activities are completed appropriately.
  • Responsible for being aware of, and the implementation of, the “Brooding Control Program” as prescribed by the Company.
  • Responsible for routine flock health maintenance program and for the reporting of any problems to the immediate Supervisor.
  • Monitors and orders all feed, supplies and equipment replacement parts as defined by the Supervisor.
  • Maintains bio-security facilities according to Company guidelines.
  • Problem solve as situations arise

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3 or more years of experience working with poultry – growing broilers.
  • Ability to perform minor electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and farm equipment repairs.
  • Ability to operate a tractor is required.
  • Ability to maintain machinery and broiler barn equipment.
  • Ability to work at odd hours during shipping time.
  • Computer skills are required.
  • Both a valid Canadian driver’s license as well as reliable transportation


  • Compensation – Between $18 to $25 per hour based on experience
  • Extended Dental and Medical is available after 6 months

Class 1 Drivers – Part time

As the Friesen Group of Companies continues to grow and serve the local agricultural community, we are seeking energetic, self-motivated individuals to assist as Part time Class 1 Drivers  for Clearbrook Grain & Milling Ltd.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for pre-trip vehicle inspections, and route inspections of truck and product.
  • Delivers and picks up products as required by assigned route, ensuring smooth fulfillment of daily tasks in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading bulk feed deliveries according to CFIA standards (including following sequencing and flushing procedures as required).
  • Maintains and updates all records and paperwork according to Company standards (i.e. Bill of lading, Inspection report (Pre-trip, En-route, Post-Trip, Trip Reports,Unloading Logs).
  • Informs Manager immediately of concerns and/or problems while helping to correct any mistakes especially in regards to issues upon delivery of products.
  • Responsible for vehicle cleanliness according to Company standards and policies.
  • Responsible for verifying conveyances is up to date.
  • Responsible for all purchases applied to fuel card holder’s account.
  • Responsible for carrying the necessary and required equipment on vehicle (changes, safety gear).


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must possess a Class 1 driver’s license;
  • Must provide a copy of BC Driver’s License Abstract;
  • Must possess air brake certification
  • Must be able to operate equipment and work aids commonly used (atlases and other trip planning aids, perform brake adjustments, monitor vehicle performance        and mechanical fitness, perform emergency roadside repairs).

Assistant Production Manager

As the Friesen Group of Companies continues to grow and serve the local agricultural community, we are seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to assist in the Clearbrook Grain & Milling Co. Ltd. mill. The Assistant Production Manager assists in ensuring smooth and efficient scheduling and delivery functions for the company by maintaining quality production and efficient transportation of products, ensuring optimal production planning and logistical coordination of all the feed being produced and delivered from the plant.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Together with the Production Manager, direct, plan, co-ordinate, and control the sequencing and delivering of the product.
  • Maintain and ensure execution of the Production Schedule: review long-term forecasts to identify and mitigate possible capacity/material issues and recommend appropriate action.
  • Monitor personnel and/or equipment locations and utilization in order to coordinate service and schedules.
  • Breakdown, verify and process driver delivery paperwork.
  • Assign drivers to trucks and provide accurate directions to customers.
  • Advise personnel about traffic problems such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, weather conditions and other hazards.
  • Maintain accurate up to date information on delivery equipment so that drivers will know what they are driving and what is available for use at any given time during the day.
  • Create, monitor and report on weekly and monthly logistics and production key performance indicators.
  • Consult with Operators on quality issues; evaluate the overall QA performance of the manufacturing unit.
  • Assist manager with Increasing production, assessing capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary cost and maintaining current quality standards.
  • Track data for the efficiencies of the mill using appropriate software when applicable.
  • Create and maintain production and manufacturing documentation.
  • Identify relevant training needs and opportunities.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation.
  • Participate in Mill Management meetings to plan out activities in future time periods.
  • Constantly look for improvements and help implement solutions.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A good command of written and spoken English language.
  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in making decision and taking actions.
  • Management experience in a production facility
  • Working experience in logistics
  • Post-Secondary education in Business Administration, Agriculture or Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge of feed mill operations
  • Knowledge of local and federal regulations and ordinances
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Poultry Feed Sales & Service Representative

As the Friesen Group of Companies continues to grow and serve the local agricultural community, we are seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to assist as a Poultry Feed Sales and Service Representative for Clearbrook Grain & Milling.

Technical Sales and Service Representatives are responsible to market livestock feed and nutritional products to customers. They often meet with customers, either by phone or in person, to discuss the customer’s needs on the farm and/or business. They maintain detailed records of their sales and develop prospective client lists, schedule visits, file expense reports and provide ongoing customer service. They must constantly educate themselves about the livestock feed industry and the company’s specific product line. They are directly responsible to the Sales and Service Manager for poultry feed sales and service.


  • Responsible for following company related policies.

  • Responsible for maintaining a well-organized, tidy work space.
  • Maintains knowledge of and, executes all Company Policies and Procedures as required by the organization and other regulatory agencies.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned, including holiday relief.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Generates and takes orders from customers, handles requests for quotations and follows up on requests for product information.
  • Make outbound calls to potential and existing customers by telephone or email to sell productions and services which result to be productive and profitable.
  • Develop a method to follow up on all quotations.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and timely sales information.
  • Overcome business and technical objections of prospective customers.
  • Liaises with all sales staff to ensure that sales activities are met in a timely, and efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Assists in planning, coordinating, implementing and monitoring Company sales and feed programs to enhance and maximize dairy production and performance.
  • Responsible for being familiar with product information; characteristics and product use recommendations.
  • Responsible for communicating sales, which may affect production and inventory to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains knowledge of, and contact with, existing customers and potential prospects on a regular, timely, and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory counts including climbing bins if necessary on farm.
  • Maintains up-to-date information and knowledge on sales and market trends, product performance, and industry information.
  • Attend trade shows as necessary as it is productive and contributes to increases sales.
  • Assists in the preparation of the Sales Department operating budget, capital budget and operation plan.
  • Informs Feed Sales and Service Manager immediately of concerns and/ or problems.
  • Acts as a representative at key industry meetings and functions.


  • Minimum three (3) sales and/or service experience in an agricultural related field.
  • Knowledge of customer and prospects considered an asset.
  • Animal husbandry experience preferred.


  • Bachelor degree in Agricultural Science or equivalent experience.
  • Possess Veterinary Drug Dispenser license or willing to acquire within three (3) months probationary period
