IT Manager

The IT Manager is responsible to the CEO for ensuring that the information technology resources are operating at an optimal cost level to facilitate the users in an efficient and effective manner to accomplish the Company’s internal and external information objectives.

The IT Manager analyzes the business processes; recommends solutions and action plans to the Friesen Group’s management; manages the implementation of automated new information systems; and help with technical documentation like manuals.


  • Responsible for maintaining and defining the hardware, software, and data requirements for the Friesen Group’s information systems and network support, including, but not exclusive to: regular system and data backups, troubleshooting system problems, documenting system changes, maintaining proper security procedures, and overseeing the outsourced network support company.
  • Ensure that company databases including database backup and recovery infrastructure are properly monitored and maintained.
  • Meet with department managers, systems owners, and end users to define and recommend operations systems requirements; and to resolve systems issues.
  • Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications, oversee new installations and project management.
  • Work alongside functional subject matter experts, as the IT Systems upgrade and implementation project lead, to validate, verify, test, and resolve systems/software applications.
  • Maintain and upgrade systems; conduct technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current system.
  • Identify, recommend, develop, and implement end user training programs to increase computer literacy and self-sufficiency including development of user manuals.
  • Work as a team member with other technical staff, such as networking to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems.
  • Responsible for preparing and having a proper disaster recovery plan available at all times.
  • Responsible for ensuring all software used is properly licensed.
  • Responsible for the company’s internal and external communication systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regards to the information being processed, stored, or accessed by the network.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business, Information Science, or Computer field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of related experience.
  • Experience with ERP software programs (Microsoft Dynamics preferred).
  • Experience with Operating systems and batch processing software preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of SQL and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organization, planning and prioritizing skills.
  • Proactive approach to problems and issues, working ahead of potential “glitches”.
  • Skill in systems testing of specification requirements.
  • Skill in understanding and using standard application development design, report, and project management tools, and demonstrated project management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Leadership skills to direct projects and train staff.
  • Must be able to work independently and maintain high degree of confidentiality.
